The parish of St. James awarded 10 grants in 2023 totaling €13.000 euros. An additional out-of-cycle grant of €1.000 was granted to our sister congregation, St. Paul’s Within the Walls of Rome, for a critical roof repair. Click the link in each description to learn more.
Associazione Pantagruel (€ 2.000)
This organization helps people transition to a stable civil life after incarceration.
Associazione Tumori Toscana (€ 1.000)
ATT supports patients and families with cancer. Their services are broad-ranging.
Centro Terapeutico Europeo (€ 1.000)
This center helps children who cannot live at home with their parents. Some are residents; some come only for the day. All are in need of tremendous love and support.
Centro Uomini Maltrattanti (€ 1.500)
This Artemis-affiliated organization works with men who have perpetrated domestic abuse, helping them to learn how and why they have responded with violence, and ways they can change.
Florence Classical Arts Academy (€ 2.000)
The FCAA offers summer camp and art classes, mostly to children, with a focus on assisting the displaced Ukrainian community.
Fondazione Angeli del Bello (€ 1.000)
This organization works to maintain clean and safe public spaces and gardens in and around Florence, with the assistance of many volunteers.
Fondazione Solidarietà Caritas ETS Firenze (€ 500)
This organization is very active to support charitable needs in Florence. This grant in particular is dedicated to the Mensa of San Francesco in Piazza Santissima Annunziata.
LAV – Lega Anti Vivisezione (€ 1.500)
Our grant will support healthcare for furry friends who are domestic companions in low-income homes.
Meeting Point Firenze Studenti (€ 500)
Meeting Point offers a safe space for teenage students to study and meet. They provide tutoring services in all subjects thanks to a small army of volunteers.
Nuovo Associazione Culturale Ulisse (€ 2000)
This Siena-based organization is aiding displaced people from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and elsewhere who need help with basic skills, housing, and transportation.

Arise Rwanda: €1200 – To support Kivu Hills Academy senior high school in Boneza, Rwanda.
Hospice San Felice a Ema: €2000 – To create a comfortig outdoor space for patients and families in Firenze Sud-Est (southwest Florence).
The Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals: €500 – To provide nature photos for the Intensive Care Unit at Careggi Hospital in Florence.
Artemisia: €1000 – To support a shelter for women and children in Florence.
NOSOTRAS Onlus: €2500 – To assist immigrant women in difficulty in Florence and beyond, including providing support for housing, legal documentation, language, and employment.
Refugees Welcome Italia ETS: €1500 – To support transportation for refugees in Siena and the surrounding area.
Misericordia di Campi Bisenzio: €2000 – To provide relief for the 2023 flood victims in Campi Bisenzio, Tuscany.
St. James Food Bank: €3000 – To support low-income families and those experiencing food insecurity in the Florence metro. Beginning in 2024 this important ministry will be funded out of our parish budget.
Additionally, with the €1300 reserved from 2023, we made two additional ad hoc emergency grants in 2024:
St. James School, Philadelphia, PA: €500 – For school scholarships, in May 2024.
All Saint’s Anglican Church, Rome: €800 – For urgent roof repair, in July 2024.
